Introduction

This research discusses and identifies the impact of behavior on attainment of students in secondary schools. Basically, the research will analyze and investigate the different variables that affect the learning capabilities including the behavior of students. This shall include a discussion on the positive and negative variables related to the academic performance with respect to the emotional, physical, intellectual behaviors among students. An analysis of performance of secondary students in relation to behavior and school performance and attainment was also conducted. Particularly, the research will focus on examining the impact of behavior on attainment of students in secondary schools.

 

Aims and Objectives

The primary aim of this study is to examine the impact of behavior on attainment of students in secondary schools and establish which of the potential teaching benefits could be achieved by the selected education sector.  Additionally, it also considers what cultural, economical, and social changes will be required to have an effective teaching strategy. The emotional, physical, and intellectual status of the students is also considered.

In addition to the objectives of the study, this study also aims to describe the variables that affects the learning capabilities of the students; to identify the status of educational system in the chosen setting i.e. secondary students; to identify the areas that might be impacted by, or affect the success of education; and to investigate the education changes that would increase the educational level.

 

Statement of the Problem

 

Generally, the study focuses on knowing the variables that affects the impact of behavior on attainment of students in secondary schools. Specifically, the study sought to answer the following queries:

  1. What is the profile of the academic grades of secondary students?
  2. What are the levels of their Anxieties?
  3. What factors or behavior affect the students’ academic attainment?
  4. Is there any significant relationship between the students’ behavior and academic performances?

 

Hypothesis

This paper will work on the following null hypothesis:

  1. There is no significant correlation between the status of behavior among students and their academic performance.
  2. Students’ behavior has no significant effect to the academic performance of the students.

 

Significance of the Study

 

The study will be significant in educational institution in a sense that it will broaden their knowledge about learning difficulties of secondary with respect to their behavior and will help them understand the other factors affecting the student’s performance. Furthermore, it will contribute to education research. This can be used as a future reference for future research that will focus on other factors affecting the academic performance of the students and education. In addition, this study might become of great use to educators since it attempts to determine the relationship of behavior to the performance of secondary students. Research materials are useful in persuading people to adopt something new like determining the impact of behavior on attainment of students in secondary schools.

 

Scope of the Study

This study will only cover the impact of behavior on attainment of students in secondary schools. As there are numerous issues surrounding the school organization, this research will primarily examine the impact of behavior to the attainment of the students. The outcome of this study will be limited only to the data gathered from books and journals and from the primary data gathered from the result of the questionnaire survey and interview that will be conducted by the researcher. As the research was completed in a relatively short period of time other factors and variables are not considered. This might have an impact on the results of the study.

 

Research Design

This study used a descriptive design which focused on the present condition. In descriptive-survey design, the purpose is to find a new truth in the study (Cohen, Manion, & Morrison, 2000). The truth may have different forms such as increased quantity of knowledge, a new generalization, an increased insight into factors which are operating, the discovery of new relationship, a more accurate formulation of the problem to be solved and many others.

Particularly, descriptive-survey design was used in this study. This approach is appropriate whenever the objects of any class vary among themselves and one is interested in knowing the extent to which different conditions obtain among these objects.

In descriptive-surveys, it is important the psychological and sociological aspects of research by way of application or implementation of evidence to recognize between facts and influence (Cohen, Manion, & Morrison, 2000). The data from a descriptive-survey design when used as basis for interferences that may aid in solving practical problems is of value to the researcher rather than the principles and laws applied in conducting an experiment in the laboratory.          

This design involves selected secondary students which determined the nature and scope of education principles and theory. The descriptive method includes empirical observation through the used of survey-questionnaire on the current conditions about a group of persons. This method was utilized to determine the functional relationship significant impact of behavior on attainment of students in secondary schools.
